[ Story ]
A sensational war drama from director Wakamatsu Koji, the mastermind behind United Red Army (Jitsuroku Rengosekigun Asama-sanso e no michi), that unabashedly depicts a husband and wife gone wrong by war. Terajima Shinobu won the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival for her passionate portrayal of Shigeko, the wife of a soldier who has lost all four limbs. Shigeko (Terajima) ceaselessly takes care of her husband, who has returned from the war in a wretched state. Passing every day in single-minded devotion to her husband's extraordinary appetite and sexual desire, Shigeko begins to feel a sense of frustration.
