[ Story ]
THE SUMMIT: A CHRONICLE OF STONES (Tsurugidake: Ten no ki) records the efforts of the army cadastral land surveyors as it attempts to climb and map the peak of Tsurugidake, which had never been reached before. The 'making of' documentary of this film was shown in theaters, created by director Osawa Yoshinori who spent more than 200 days on location following directorial-debuted famous cameraman Kimura Daisaku. The filming location was in the Tateyama mountain range, which rises to a height of over 3,000 meters, and a number of the film crew suffered from altitude sickness. After a severe production schedule that lasted for two years, the documentary clearly shows the pride that these men of action take in their work, which they gamble their lives to complete.
