[ Story ]
A family drama screened in the section "Japanese Eyes" at the 23rd Tokyo International Film Festival. For this film, Director Higashi Yoichi, winner of a Silver Bear Award at the Berlin International Film Festival for Village of Dreams (Eno Nakano Bokuno Mura) (1996), adapts Kamoshida Yutaka's autobiographical novel to film. Due to a dependency on alcohol, war photographer Yasu (Asano Tadanobu) is divorced from his manga-artist wife Yuki (Nagasaku Hiromi) and lives away from his children. Having turned violent and thrown up blood night after night, he reluctantly checks into an alcohol rehabilitation hospital. Eventually he recognizes the irreplaceable ties he has with his family.
