[ Story ]
"Tomoshibi-kai (The Dim Light Club)" is an informal social group for elder ladies. The members spend their days in boredom after having retired from mainstream life. They have to put together something for the citizen's fest, but nobody has any idea what to do. One day, Aoi (Awaji Keiko) finds a play written by her granddaughter Morishita Kanako (Nishida Naomi). Excited, she decides to put on the play and talks to her club members about it. Everybody in "The Dim Light Club" gets quite excited about the idea. Even though the people around them give them the cold shoulder, the elderly women begin rehearsing enthusiastically. In the middle of rehearsals, however, Umeko collapses and dies while she recites her lines. Being afraid of another tragedy, the people try to stop their play. On the other hand, Umeko's last wish was for the show to go on. On the day of citizen's fest, Kanako plays Umeko's role and the play ends very successfully. Remembering her own affection for theater, Kanako decides to go back to Tokyo.
Based on a true story, the film was directed by Watanabe Takayoshi, known as a strong director of comedy.
