[ Story ]
Matsui Hisako, director of Yukie and Oriume, scripts and directs a film on the life of Leonie Gilmour, mother of the world-renowned sculptor, Isamu Noguchi, based on his biography. Assembling established producers and cast members from the American film world, she completed this Japanese-release edition as a US-Japan co-production. In New York, at the end of the 19th century, Leonie (Emily Mortimer), a graduate of a prestigious women's university and a teacher, meets Yone Noguchi (Nakamura Shido), a poet from Japan, and the two fall in love. However, as soon as Yone discovers that Leonie is pregnant, he retreats to Japan.
