This is a film made by students of Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts, where Kurosawa Kiyoshi and Kitano Takeshi serve as professors. Based on non-fiction writer Sawaki Kotaro's book of the same title, this is an omnibus film containing four segments. Starring in the film is Ishibashi Renji, a distinguished actor who has received recognition from many directors, from the late master Ichikawa Kon to more recent master Miike Takashi. With young and fresh sensitivity, student director Gokan Hiroshi gives an incisive account of the characters to thread this human drama. Due to a decision made by the ward, scrap recycler Yama Yoshihide (Ishibashi) is to be evicted from his house. But Yoshihide must pay retirement benefits to his cart pullers and he decides to act against the officials.
