Nakamura Kanzaburo is a major star, known not just in Japan but internationally. This film shows the comedic performance characteristic of Nakamura. This performance was shown at the same time as KUMO NO HYOSHIMAI as the 11th in the Cinema Kabuki series of stage performances filmed with a HD camera. The feudal lord Yamakage Ukyo (Nakamura Kanzaburo) lies to his wife Tamanoi (Bando Mitsugoro), telling her that when he doesn't return home he goes to the temple to practice solitary Zen meditation, while he is actually visiting his lover and using his retainer as a scapegoat. Ukyo returns home not knowing that this lie has been exposed and boastfully begins to tell others about his secret meetings.
