[ Story ]
A blind drifter who strikes down his foes with lightning-fast speed, Ichi returns for the last installment of the Zatoichi films -- an action series set in old Japan that has gone down in Japanese film history. This newest film shows us a more human side to our hero, recounting hitherto untold tales of his life. As Ichi (Katori Shingo) sets off to do away with a large posse of enemies, he promises his beloved wife, Tane (Ishihara Satomi), that this will be his last fight. Losing his wife in the midst of battle, however, Ichi returns to his hometown in search of a peaceful life, and moves in with his old friend, Ryuji (Sorimachi Takashi). The village is controlled by the despotic Tendo (Nakadai Tatsuya) gang, however, and Ichi finds himself drawn into a deadly showdown.
