[ Story ]
Using an innovative union of traditional and 3D computer animation, director Aramaki Shinji ('Bubblegum Crisis') adapts the popular manga by revered artist and writer, Shirow Masamune ('Ghost In The Shell').
In the year 2131, the earth has become a ravaged wasteland after years of global warfare. Deunan (Kobayashi Ai), a soldier who has managed to survive the conflict, is wandering alone amongst the urban remains when a huge helicopter appears and she is rendered unconscious by a shot from a tranquilizer gun. She awakes to discover that she has been transported to the peaceful megalopolis of Olympus, and is met by her former lover, Briareos (Kosugi Jurota), who has been transformed beyond recognition into a cyborg. Half the city's population are Bioroids, clones conditioned to suppress their base emotions and therefore ensure social harmony. Although all seems benign, a conspiracy that threatens the very existence of humanity is lurking behind Olympus' utopian facade. As they begin to uncover the truth, Deunan and Briareos become caught up in a battle that will decide the fates of human and bioroid alike.
