[ Story ]

Historical drama depicting part of the lifetime of Soma Nagatane, who established Senshu College, predecessor of Senshu University. Directed by Kamiyama Seijiro, who excels at films like Hachi: A Dog's Tale that are based on real stories. In 1870, Hikone Domain member Soma (Miura Takahiro) grasps the era at hand and volunteers for the army out of the belief that Japan needs a strong military force. However, he is rejected due to hemorrhoids. Saito Takamori (Nagashima Toshiyuki) of the Satsuma Domain strongly advises him to study abroad, and he embarks on a journey to San Francisco.
