This film is modeled on the Sendai Tug-of-War which has continued for 420 years in Kagoshima Prefecture's Satsumasendai City and presents a fresh portrayal of the human drama revolving around it. Director Sasabe Kiyoshi unexpectedly passed away in March, 2020 after completing the film.
Takeshi (Miura Takahiro) is 35 years old and spends his days being pushed into marriage by his father, a construction foreman and master of the Great Tug-of-War. One day, Takeshi, who is also a fireman, meets Korean resident physician Ji-Hyeon (Jiyoung) while he's in the middle of performing life-saving procedures. They meet again days later and gradually get to know one another.
