[ Story ]
A documentary that follows the growth of an extremely premature baby panda. It is compiled from a vast amount of footage that chronicles the efforts of its breeders and sheds light on the ecology of pandas, which are regarded as having a low fertility rate.
In summer of 2006, twin pandas were born at a panda research facility in Chengdu, China. The older twin weighed 150 grams and was of normal size, but his younger brother weighed only 51 grams. Abandoned by its mother, the younger panda was named Wu Yi (meaning "51" in Chinese) by its breeders, who worked desperately to ensure its unlikely survival.
