[ Story ]
Renowned documentary filmmaker of Yuki Yuki Te Shingun (The Emperor's Naked Army Marches On) and Zenshin Shosetsuka, Hara Kazuo, makes his feature film debut with this story of a woman's life and her relationships. Four actresses play the part of the main character Chika, as we see her through the eyes of four different men.
Chika, a physical education teacher at a Junior High School, is happily married to her childhood friend Yoshio, until Yoshio is hospitalized with tuberculosis. Chika returns to her hometown and starts an affair with a new teacher, Kazuya. Meanwhile, Yoshio is released from the hospital. Chika abandons both men and goes to Tokyo. There, she meets a former student who falls in love with her. Chika gets work in a bar in the suburbs. She starts another relationship with a rootless man named Segawa and spends all of his money. Segawa takes Chika to an island called Tobishima and kills her.
