A grand depiction of the struggles of scientists taking on a world-first space mission. Star Watanabe Ken was also involved in the film's production, and exerts his presence not only as an actor but also in many other areas. In 2003, asteroid probe Hayabusa blasted off into space and encountered a succession of unforeseen situations. The efforts of a team of technicians led by Professor Yamaguchi (Watanabe) are witnessed by newspaper reporter Mari (Natsukawa Yui), who comes to rethink her own way of life.
