[ Story ]
The second directorial effort from Hanabusa Aya, a rising talent who won best documentary at the 2012 SiciliAmbiente Documentary Film Festival for her debut film HOLY ISLAND. It follows a family of butchers in Kaizuka City, Osaka that raises cattle, slaughters them by hand, and sells the meat at their shop. It painstakingly depicts the process by which the cows are taken apart in a well-coordinated team effort. Through showing the family as they eat together, dance at the local Obon festival, and participate in the Kishiwada danjiri (large wooden cart) festival, the film also captures daily life in their locality which has long been home to the discriminated "buraku" minority, and silently poses questions about the meaning of life.
