[ Story ]
Drama depicting the anguish and hopes of people living in an age of turmoil, based on a real-life Japanese-Canadian baseball team in pre-war Canada. Directed by Ishii Yuya, whose film The Great Passage was selected to represent Japan for the Best Foreign Language Film in the 86th Academy Awards.
In the early 1900s, Japanese who immigrated to Canada were greeted by the harsh reality of grueling labor, discrimination, and poverty. There, the fighting spirit demonstrated by the Japanese-Canadian baseball team called the Vancouver Asahi, including Reggie Kasahara (Tsumabuki Satoshi), brought a ray of hope to people's lives.
