A drama based on the Naoki Prize-winning novel by Tendo Arata. As with the theater adaptation, its director is Tsutsumi Yukihiko, and its screenplay is by Omori Sumio.
Sakatsuki Shizuto (Kora Kengo) travels the length and breadth of Japan to "mourn" for people who have died unforeseen deaths. The act of "mourning" involves "preserving memories of who they loved, who they were loved by, what they did to earn the gratitude of others, and how they live." This ritual may seem bizarre to those unfamiliar with it, but it shines a healing light onto the anguish of the various people who come into contact with Shizuto.
