Nineteenth feature film for the popular TV anime based on Aoyama Gosho's mystery manga. A high school detective in the body of an elementary school kid tackles the mystery surrounding a famous painting. Screenwriter Sakurai Takeharu and director Shizuno Kobun reunite for this film.
Van Gogh's second "Sunflower" painting that was destroyed in a fire, shows up for auction in New York. It sells for $300 million despite being a replica. The news shocks Conan (voice: Takayama Minami) and his friends. To make things more complicated, Magic Kid (voice: Yamaguchi Kappei) appears and declares that he will steal the painting.
