A film by Oguri Kohei, director of The Sting of Death which won the 43rd Cannes Film Festival Grand Prize of the Jury award. Odagiri Joe stars in a story covering half the lifetime of artist Fujita Tsuguharu who thrived in France.
In 1913, at the age of 27, Fujita (Odagiri) left for France. The "milky-white" skin tones he painted in the 1920s attracted notice and made him a favorite among the Ecole de Paris. Afterward, he returned to Japan due to the war. He painted war propaganda and climbed to the top of the Japanese art world, but....
