The lives of people residing at a group home for victims of Alzheimer's disease is recorded over a two year period in this documentary directed by My wife's illness -Dementia with Lewy Bodies director, Ise Shinichi, who has a reputation for his documentaries dealing with human beings and life.
In 2000, the Fukujuso Group Home was established by chairwoman Takeda Junko in the city of Sapporo, Hokkaido Prefecture under the mottos: "cherish the individual," "a caring heart," and "creating a society people can live with peace of mind." By capturing the lifestyle at Fukujuso in a straightforward manner, the film raises the question of what exactly is "being alive."
