Using as a backdrop the civil uprising which occurred approximately 280 years ago in the mountains of the Tsuyama fiefdom in what is now Maniwa City, Okayama Prefecture, this period film expresses "the start of life after accepting weakness". Director Yamasaki Juichiro made the film while maintaining his agricultural business in Maniwa and with the cooperation of the local population, was able to finish it.
Though poor, Jihei (Nakagaki Naohisa) lives a humble life with his pregnant wife. He reluctantly joins an uprising against the fiefdom and one by one his compatriots are arrested. In order to survive, he abandons his family and flees. Several years later, however, an incident forces his decision to return to the village.
