The best-selling novel by Yokoyama Hideo, author of Half a Confession and Climber's High, is adapted into a two-part film. Director Zeze Takahisa of Heaven's Story and an all-star cast including Sato Koichi render this profound drama.
Nicknamed "Six-Four", a kidnapping and murder case of a little girl which occurred in the sixty-fourth year of the Showa Era (1989) is about to pass beyond the statute of limitations without being solved. Mikami (Sato), then a detective, is a public relations officer upon whom the investigation had fallen, springs into motion to unravel the truth just as another kidnapping of a girl bearing similarities to "Six-Four" occurs.
