Zeze Takahisa adapts 'Midnight Express' author Sawaki Kotaro's same-named novel that was serialized in Asahi Shinbun.
Hirooka Jinichi (Sato Koichi) retires from boxing and abruptly returns to Japan after four decades in the US. At his old gym he meets Kuroki Shogo (Yokohama Ryusei), who is still upset over a bad call that cost him a match and begs Jinichi to take him on as a trainee. Jinichi's niece Nanako (Hashimoto Kanna) gets involved and they embark on a rather unusual communal lifestyle.
