Watanabe Mamoru jidenteki documentary Dai 1 bu ito no kireta tako Watanabe Mamoru ga kataru Watanabe Mamoru kohen
Watanabe Mamoru has shot over 200 pink films, dedicating the entirety of his directing career to the genre. In this second installment of a four-part documentary series, Watanabe talks about his own life. The director, Ikawa Koichiro, served as the screenwriter of Watanabe's films in his final years.
After the war, Watanabe studied drama at Hatta Matoh's directing workshop and following acting roles in television dramas as well as an assistant director's position on educational films, he made his directorial debut with the pink film, Abazure. Watanabe passionately talks about his debut work, the film reels to which were lost so it can no longer be seen (the reels were discovered after Watanabe's death).
