Watanabe Mamoru has shot over 200 pink films, dedicating the entirety of his directing career to the genre. In this first installment of a four-part documentary series, Watanabe talks about his own life. The director, Ikawa Koichiro, served as the screenwriter of Watanabe's films in his final years.
Watanabe looks back on his childhood, from the town in which he was born and raised; the films he saw skipping school; to his recollections of the war. However, turning the topic on his older brother who died young, Masaru, Watanabe suddenly goes quiet. Taking over his brother's love of film and theatre, he decided to get into the film business.
