"Affair in the Mist" is the story of Sonoko, mistress of the managing director of construction firm who has fought his way up from a stevedore, and is striving to begin a new life after leaving her man. A terrible burden is her father who once tried to sell her into a brothel to meet his drinking debts.
Fate, however, binds her to Morino, a young man who is her patron's private secretary. Thus her torture and anguish increase day by day. One night, in self-defense, Morino fatally stabs the delinquent son of his boss with a large switch-blade knife _
Sonoko is led towards committing suicide. But the trail leads nowhere and once again Fate deserts her.
This novel by popular writer Seiichi Funabashi is brought to the screen by director Minoru Shibuya who has made a tense and deeply moving film.
