[ Story ]

Senya Hamamura, an attractive dancing mistress, falls in love with Nishikawa, a genius in the Noh play.
Nishikawa is a notorious libertine and soon, finding herself in a dilemma between art and love, she breaks with him.
Lonely and desperate, Senya seeks the help of Prof. Nunokawa, a veteran critic, who consents to arrange a private performance of a rarely played and difficult Noh number as material for her new creation.
Nishikawa, now ruined physically, after years of dissipation, performs with the last embers of his dying genius. And after strenuous efforts, Senya succeeds in rendering the profound art of the Noh play into a dance number.
While dancing "Lady Aoi," the fruit of her efforts, before a fascinated audience, Senya learns that Nishikawa breathed his last that very morning.
