[ Story ]
Junko Asakura, an actress, had been swept off her feet by the irresistible charms of Yoshioka, and had married him only to find him an inveterate dreamer who has no idea of his responsibilities as a husband. With mingled feelings of relief and regret, she leaves him
to return to the stage to be welcomed back by Ishiguro, the playwright, and other friends.
After three years of seclusion, Junko finds many things are happening which tend to confuse her. One is the demonstrations against the Security Pact between the United States and Japan. Even Ishiguro believes they must grasp these things in order to become accomplished actors and actresses, and rehearsals are frequently held up to study these problems.
In her heart, Junko is only concerned in becoming a good actress, but without knowing exactly why, she finds herself on the side disapproving the Security Pact, and when she hears that Ishiguro has been injured in a clash between the demonstrators and the police, she hurries to the hospital to nurse him and to make him happy by accepting his proposal to share his life, for better or for worse.
