Company president Kawahara's days are limited as he suffers from cancer. His estate is valued at three hundred million yen and he has no legitimate heir other than his wife.
He entrusts his faithful employees with the task of locating three children born of casual female acquaintances. Among those sent out on this now urgent mission is his secretary, Yasuko. One by one, as his lost offspring are brought before him Kawahara realizes how unworthy they are.
One night, rejected by a cold wife who shuns him because his presence bears the aroma of death, Kawahara forces himself upon Yasuko in a fit of rage. Yasuko cannot find in her heart to turn him down.
His self-styled daughter is found to be a fraud and Kawahara is on the verge of despair.
With time running short, Kawahara learns that Yasuko is with child. Despite her refusal to accept financial aid, he insists that the inheritance is for the child and not necessarily for her.
After Kawahara's death, the others learn of this new heir to his fortune. But this is not all. Other shocking disclosures soon follow.
