Yoshie first met Eiji in a small bar in Tokyo. Though she was only nineteen, she gave herself to him as she thought they could marry and live happily together. Instead, he turns out to be a gangster who forces her to prostitute herself for him. Later, one of her clients falls in love with her and asks her to run away with him.
But she cannot do so, for she feels it is too late and that her life is ruined. And, unable to continue her way of life, unable to run away, she stabs Eiji to death.
