At the end of the nineteenth century, when Western customs became popular in Japan, traditional Japanese sports suffered a decline - among them jujutsu. This film is about a young man who continued to believe in the sport and who, in the face of all odds, created the particular exhibition-form of jujutsu which now goes by the name of judo. In order to do so, he faced much opposition and many fights, but he came to enjoy true friendship and real love.
