[ Story ]

Hiroko, a war orphan and governess at a children's nursery, falls in love with Takayuki, younger brother of the head of the hospital where she is recuperating from an illness. Their love affair proceeds smoothly and the wealthy Takayuki takes Hiroko for rides in his sports car.
An abrupt change occurs when Takayuki leaves home in rebellion against his parents who oppose his marriage to an orphan girl. Hiroko visits him at his apartment, but refuses to submit to him. That night, Takayuki goes with a prostitute and Hiroko is raped in her sleep by the son of the head of the nursery.
Hiroko leaves the nursery and ends up as a cabaret singer. After months of search, Takayuki finds her, but their happy reunion is short-lived as the result of his reaction to her confession that she is no more a virgin.
Just before the third Christmas after their first meeting, Takayuki learns from a letter in a newspaper that she is a patient in a charity hospital. Their second reunion cements their love.
