[ Story ]
Two detectives of the Yokohama Police Department have worked together for many years to round up a gang of dope smugglers. After catching one prize witness, he is shot and killed by Detective Mikami, when he grabs the gun from the other detective, Ishizuka, and attempts to escape.
Because of this Mikami is forced to resign and disappears for three years, when he is found working as a laborer in Hokkaido by Inspector Tsuchiya. Tsuchiya has been studying the case of the dope smugglers and the shooting of the witness and believes that Mikami should return to Yokohama and try to help solve the mystery.
Mikami returns as a vagabond singer, singing "Red Handkerchief" in the entertainment district of Yokohama.
He is soon beaten up by thugs and put in hospital. He learns that his former colleague Ishizuka is now a rich and successful businessman and married to the daughter of the witness he'd killed three years before.
Excellent direction and skillful camera work, describe how Ishizuka, working in league with the dope smugglers, actually set up the killing of the witness and forced Mikami to shoot to kill.
