[ Story ]

A letter from a school boy, Kenta, comes to KITARO (Wentz Eiji), who is enjoying a laid-back life in the world of Yokai or Japanese monsters, located beyond human knowledge. Work has started to demolish a shrine in the mountain behind the apartment block where Kenta lives, and Yokai has started to appear, causing a nuisance. In the world of Yokai, on the other hand, the "Yokaiishi (stone of Yokai)", a power stone, is stolen. This mysterious stone has the power to strengthen the magical power if held by a Yokai, but overwhelm the holder with evil power if held by a human being. The stone falls in the hands of Kenta by chance and this cause him and his elder sister, Mika (Inoue Mao) to be chased by Kuko, a Yokai who schemes to dominate both worlds of Yokai and human beings. KITARO battles to protect Kenta and his sister from Kuko.
A leading Japanese manga artist Mizuki Shigeru's comic of the same title has been adapted as a live-action film making full use of VFX. A CG production company in Hong Kong, Centoro Digital Pictures of Shaoling Soccer joined this project.
