The second installment in the "Lupin the IIIrd" series which reboots the origins of Monkeypunch's 'Lupin III' manga and depicts a younger cast of characters. It presents a story of solitary swordsman Ishikawa Goemon's battle before he met Lupin. Koike Takeshi continues on from the previous installment as director and animation director.
On a gambling boat traveling off the Izu coast, a young Goemon (voice: Namikawa Daisuke) working as a bodyguard rescues the Tetsuryu crime syndicate boss from an attack. However, there is a large explosion immediately afterward which heavily damages the boat while also killing the syndicate boss. Goemon chases down a large man wielding an axe who was responsible for the explosion, but the culprit escapes.
