[ Story ]
Feature film adaptation of the script penned by director Obayashi Nobuhiko prior to his 1977 debut film HOUSE. Culminates his "war time trilogy" together with Casting Blossoms to the Sky and Seven Weeks.
Spring 1941. Toshihiko (Kubozuka Shunsuke) shows up at the home of his aunt (Tokiwa Takako) in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture. He entertains a crush on his tubercular cousin Mina (Yahagi Honoka) while reveling in "depraved" adolescence with the girls and indulging in bravery-testing escapades with his school buddies. Meanwhile, the Pacific War erupts.
