[ Story ]

Documentary about the lives of 'wansei' Japanese who were born and raised in Taiwan during the Japanese occupation prior to World War Two. Directed by Hayashi Masayuki, whose numerous documentaries about Taiwan include Ryohei banka Ikyo ni ikiru. Theme song by Taiwanese musician Sai Ailing and narration by Kabira Chosei, the first announcer for Ryukyu Broadcasting Station.
At the end of World War Two there were some 200,000 'wansei.' Forcibly repatriated to Japan after the defeat, they are now over 80 years of age and look nostalgically back on their time in Taiwan.
