Feature-film adaptation of the popular series "Natsume Yujin-cho," which has six seasons as a TV anime. The new story unfolds under the supervision of original story author Midorikawa Yuki.
Ever since he was little, Natsume Takashi (Kamiya Hiroshi) has been able to see monstrous spirits known as Yokai. Natsume's late grandmother, Reiko (Kobayashi Sanae), would challenge Yokai to contests and the ones that lost had to sign a contract with her, binding their names to her "Yujin-Cho (Book of friends)". Ever since Natsume has inherited the book, together with Nyanko-Sensei (Inoue Kazuhiko), his self-proclaimed bodyguard, he spends his days trying to return the names within the book to their owners. Meanwhile, Natsume also becomes acquainted with Tsumura Yorie (Shimamoto Sumi) who knows much about Reiko, and her only son, Mukuo (Kora Kengo).
