Yamazaki Takashi serves as chief director and screenwriter on this feature-length CG animated film based on the popular RPG video game "Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride". The film once again assembles the production staff of Stand By Me Doraemon including co-directors Yagi Ryuichi and Hanafusa Makoto.
In order to retrieve his mother who was taken away by a demon, a young man Lucas (voice: Satoh Takeru) continues traveling with his father Papas (voice: Yamada Takayuki). However, Papas regrettably dies during their journey. Ten years later, Lucas complies with his father's last wish and decides to set out once again on an adventure.
