Kurosawa Kiyoshi, who has won numerous awards at home and abroad including Best Director in the Un Certain Regard at Cannes for Journey to the Shore, writes and directs this original road movie which was shot in Uzbekistan over the course of one month.
Though Yoko (Maeda Atsuko) dreams of becoming a singer, she has resigned herself to being a television reporter. She and her crew visit, in search of a fabled fish, an area which had prospered as a hub on the Silk Road. One day after filming Yoko goes out into town and is drawn by a faint singing voice to wander off toward a beautiful theatre.
