In April of 2019, actor Yamamoto Taro established a new political party, the Reiwa Shinsengumi. This documentary follows their campaign activities. It is directed by Hara Kazuo, who is known for The Emperor's Naked Army Marches On which won a Caligari Film Award at the 37th Berlin International Film Festival's Forum section.
In the summer of 2019, elections for seats in the lower house were held. The Reiwa Shinsengumi Party backed the representative candidate Yasutomi Ayumi, a University of Tokyo professor known for dressing as a woman. The camera follows the party's candidates including Yasutomi as they go on the campaign trail across the nation.
