[ Story ]
The fate of a husband and wife are depicted in this mystery set in Japan on the night before the outbreak of the Pacific War. Kurosawa Kiyoshi, who won the Directing Prize in the Un Certain Regard of the 68th Cannes Film Festival, directs. Wife of a Spy screened in competition at the 77th Venice Film Festival where it won the Silver Lion for Best Director.
Yusaku (Takahashi Issey), the owner of a trading company in Kobe, goes to Manchuria where he witnesses a dreadful state secret. His wife Satoko (Aoi Yu) continues to believe and love her husband as he makes every effort to make details of the occurrence known to the world.
