Adapting novelist Nonaka Tomoso's identically titled book, Fujii Michihito, director of The Journalist, renders the curious encounters of a confused girls and her subsequent growth.
14-year-old Tsubame (Kiyohara Kaya) has a crush on university student Toru (Ito Kentaro). She likes to spend time alone on the rooftop of her calligraphy school to escape the unwelcome feelings around her. One night, however, she sees an old woman in gaudy attire, Hoshi-ba (Momoi Kaori), flying through the starry sky above her only place of refuge. Tsubame is uncomfortable around the freewheeling Hoshi-ba, but before even realizing it she is confiding her troubles to Hoshi-ba.
