It took six years to get permission to make this documentary, the first-ever extended shoot in a Japanese prison. Directed by Sakagami Kaori, who shot US prisoners in Talk Back Out Loud and Lifers
Shimane Asahi Rehabilitation Program Center is a joint public-private operation that offers Japan's only therapeutic community (TC) program. Through this program inmates confront not only the crimes that they committed, but also childhood memories of poverty, bullying, abuse and prejudice.
