[ Story ]
15 percent of the City of Zushi's territory is occupied by a facility for the U.S. Navy where 5,000 American military personnel live, when the population of the city itself is less than 50,000. From outside the fence enclosing the Ikego naval housing areas, the filmmaker focuses his camera on Japanese people who were ordered by the Japanese Imperial Navy to abandon their homes and land 70 years ago. Taking a short film commissioned by the municipal government as its starting point, the film takes a hard look at Japanese history through the post-war life stories of these people whose ancestors once lived on this occupied land. An ambitious film by Fujiwara Toshi (Cinema is About Documenting Lives: the works and times of Noriaki Tsuchimoto; 2007).
