This ensemble drama depicting yakuza who exist in the Showa Era underworld as it undergoes changes, from the upheavals immediately after the war to the rise and crash of the bubble economy, is directed by Izutsu Kazuyuki, who has worked on numerous films dealing with socially down-and-out characters.
Japanese who were thrown into poverty and disorder after Japan's defeat in the war lived on desire from the years of rapid economic growth to the crash of the bubble economy. In one corner, Ito (Matsumoto Toshio) has always gone against society without relying on anyone, but before long assembles other misfits and makes a life in the criminal underworld.
