[ Story ]

Directorial debut for celebrated actress Tanaka Kinuyo. All-star cast depicts the sorrowful romance of a couple at the mercy of fate. Script by Kinoshita Keisuke.
Reikichi has been searching for his beloved Michiko for five years since the end of the war. He comes to Tokyo but can't find steady work and crashes with his younger brother Hiroshi. One day in Shibuya he runs into his old friend Yamaji, who suggests he take a job writing letters in English. These are love letters written on behalf of women for foreign servicemen who have returned to their home countries.
