Fifth work by towering author Sato Yasushi to reach the big screen following And Your Bird Can Sing. Director Saito Hisashi updates the 1979 short story to contemporary times and lays bare the struggles of people dealing with loneliness.
Kazuo (Higashide Masahiro) returns to his hometown of Hakodate with his wife Junko (Nao) after a mental breakdown. His friend Kenji (Daitoh Shunsuke) takes him to a hospital where psychiatrist Uno (Muroi Shigeru) diagnoses him with autonomic ataxia and tells him to go running on a daily basis.
