[ Story ]
This documentary follows the development of Minatoya Kosome, who fell in love with and became an apprentice of Rōkyoku (traditional Japanese narrative singing) master Minatoya Koryu. Director Kawakami Atiqa, who directed the short film Minatoya Koryu IN-TUNE in 2015, took eight years to complete the film.
In the world of Rōkyoku, where old-time lovers and new fans mingle, Rōkyoku performers and songwriters born in the Heisei period have grown up, and the number of female performers has increased. The film follows the succession of the art form from veteran to young performer through Kosome's apprenticeship under Minatoya Koryu, who is known as a "legendary master of the art" and with an ageing but close-knit dedicated community -- a comforting refuge from the stifling rigidity of contemporary Japanese society.
