[ Story ]
Maboroshi and Wonderful Life director Kore-eda Hirokazu helms this drama about relatives of people who committed mass murder. Documentary maestro Yamazaki Yutaka shot the film almost entirely handheld and captured the protagonists' shifting emotions with natural lighting.
A group of cult followers committed mass murder three summers ago. It is the anniversary of the perpetrators' deaths, and Atsushi (ARATA) and three other relatives of cult members head for the lake where the killing unfolded. They meet Sakata (Asano Tadanobu), a former cult member who was with the perpetrators until right before they executed their attack.
